Today, once again I sat around. Slightly helped the group with some of the information that we had to gather for the presentation. Me and Aaron thought of going to go practice but, aaron said we needed the rest of the group so we came back into the classroom and sat and helped. I got slightly bored and grabbed a guitar and started playing songs. Today was a goof off day, and we are ready to perform.

Today i sat beside my partners, and watched them do the rest of the project, because last time me and Aaron did the work. So today i was kind of slacking off, playing the guitar. But we're really close to finishing up. We got one more day of work time and then we present, I think we got this. We just need to get the last few slides finished, play the song one more time and we will be good to go.

Today we tried doing our power point presentation. WE got one of the points done. We had arguments about who computer we should do it on. Me and Aaron did most of the work today, while Xavar was playing the guitar and Till and Rodain were doing nothing. We really need to do our presentation, but we got down our performance. We just need to be cooperative and get it done...someday.    

Reflection on arts week

During Arts Week we created braids and hung them next to the dove, posted pictures on the wall in the foyer about peace, heard some poems, had a few bands play for us during the week, and had a great ending assembly. I learned   how to braid with all the stringy things. I think that schools have arts week because they want to celebrate some type of freedom, what i meant as freedom was like you were allowed to do any types of art you felt like performing or showing. Also to make the school have a artistic and spirited feeling about them selves.

Today, Rodain and Till learned how to come in when they sing. I still needed to help them out a bit when they got stuck. But we played pretty well together. We actually finished the song, for the first time!!! We also recorded our selves, Mrs.Malone had suggested us to record our selves so we could see what we have to improve and if we were off (coordination). We did well! 

Music performance- daily blog 2

Today we learned how to put the drum set together, with the help of Dr.Swan. Once again we played through the whole song without singing. We need to learn how to play together, so we if one of us loses our place then we can just get back in. Our singers are learning how to join in with us, they needed some assistance from me. But we just need to get the singing down and we're good.

Megabuilders Final Summative

Part 1: Musical Description 

1.For my music project I used Rondo form. The pattern in my music was (A,B,A,C,A,D,A). It has 7 parts to it. Part A is 40 seconds, part B is 40 seconds, part C is 45 seconds, part D is 65 seconds, and the whole song is 4:50. 

2.Im my music project I always start out with one instrument or loop playing then I keep adding more on to it while it goes, but they all still fit together. The average amount of loops i have playing at the same time is 4. 

3.I used a lot of Dynamics in my music. This is because, each time a new part comes in, I start it with a low dynamic then move to a higher dynamic, or even when I have to fade out the music I use the volume control nob to lower the Dynamics. I also use the the volume control nob when there is a loop that is louder than the other, so i make the loop that is lower of volume then I raise it so its balanced.

4. I have low amount of tone color. I mostly used guitars and drums, I did use some small beats but it still didn't really make a difference. But my song uses the tone color wisely, if i used or added more to it, it would have sounded a bit off or messy. 

5.In my music I used pitch many times. I actually had a pattern to my pitch for part A. It starts out with 0, then goes up to 2, goes back down to 0, down to 5, back to 0, goes to 2, and then ends with 0. I also used it  in other parts but you can hear it more clearly in part A. The pitch even makes the music sound like it has a minor sound to it.

6.In my song the Dynamics and tone color and texture work the best together. This is because I used the volume control nob to even out or to show off one of the parts or a certain loop in the song. Also with the texture of my music it gives the music a type of feeling to it. 

Part 2: Musical Evaluation

I think when I used texture in part A like I have, it makes the song sound good. I used 5 different loops in part A and those different loops created a good feeling and they all went together. But if I added more tone color to it, it would have made it sound more in tune and together. But overall I think I have done a pretty god job, even though it still not perfect.

Part 3:Process Description

First I started with putting random loops that would fit into my music. Then I started actually putting work into it and finished all the song. After I had finished that I went through every part; checked if they needed any touch ups. Then I went through the whole song and put in the panning and volume controls in and last but not least I put in the master pitch just to top it off and make it sound like its not only just the same loop playing in the same pitch.

Part 4: Process Evaluation

In my music project I was successful in the matching and togetherness of the loops in my song. The area I found most easy was the texture; I liked adding more instruments to certain sections so it would sound normal and like an actual orchestra. The area I found difficult was the master pitch control, it was confusing because I rarely use the pitch control in my previous projects, so it was hard for me to make a pattern or a perfect pitch to match the instruments. I made poor decisions in my pitch control, I went through quickly and didn’t really pay much attention to it...so if my ends up sounding off, its because of the pitch control. Next time I shall work on my pitch… I’ve been bringing pitch up a lot because I really did not put a lot of effort into it, so next time I have to try harder and not let it wait till the deadline.

Part 5: Summarize your learning

This project has shown me how fun and at the same time how hard it is to make a perfect song out of loops, rappers are pretty good at that, I must say. If I were to do this again I shall put more time on it and give it my all, work on the areas that I was not successful in and keep improving in the areas that I’m well at. But some questions that I still have is how does the pitch work…I really do not get the concept on that, like how does it change, does it change the sound and roughness or the sound quality.

This is all have to say for my project I hope it describes what I’ve done in a reasonable way.

Megabuilders Final project daily blog #5

Today I worked with Xavar on his project, telling him some tips on how to make it sound better. What I thought about Xavas piece of music was good, but the loops needed to be moved in such a way so it sounds better.I had already finished my project over the weekend and I fixed all the panning and volume control. So all I did today was help xavar and listen to my song one more time to see if I really think its worth being presented. 

Megabuilders Final project daily blog #4

Today I showed my work to my friends and got some feedback off that. First I learned that you could not add ANYTHING to part "A" in Rondo form. My friend Rodain repeatedly told me that "you cant do that!". So I changed all the form "A's" to be the same. My friends told me it sounded good, but I might still work on it a little bit more at home just to make it perfect. What I'm having trouble with is the bridge to another part and the time...the time is still too long (I think), but I think its a reasonable  time amount for a rondo form song. So I think I am finished with my song, Done.

Megabuilders Final project daily blog #3

Today I was thinking of making a new piece of music or change my piece entirely. My music goes along well (to me) but I'm not sure about the length of the music. I think that its too long and that people who will listen to this will get bored because the music kinda repeats it self. So my plan for next class or at home will be to make this piece shorter and more lively so people will enjoy. What I like about this piece of music is that part "d" is pretty well built, so i will keep that part but fix the others. But since I'm going to go over my music and make it shorter that means that i have to go over and fix the volume control and pan control once again. I still have time, and I think I'm on schedule.

This is my first blog about my megabuilders project. I'm creating a song that is using rondo form. So far I have only created the first part to my song"A". I still have to add in all the pan and volume control nob stuff. I have to improve a lot of things even though its the first day
